>> good morning, it is 5:00 a.m. on this monday, december 1. breaking this morning. >> firefighter race to rescue people from a house fire in philadelphia they say it was firebombed we're live. >> gone without a trace, the mysterious disappearance of a college student has authorities concerned. >> accuweather has seen warmer air marching in on this first day of december. >> david murphy is off, let's hear about that from karen rogers and we have matt pellman with traffic, good morning. >> reporter: we have dropped a few degrees in the past few hours, 49 in philadelphia. 51 in millville. 36 in allentown and 48 degrees in the poconos right now. satellite and radar showing a good amount of clouds, you can see the showers that are trying to move through this is associated with a cold front that's going to change our weather. in the meantime the showers are moving west to east, but not hit us until later on this afternoon. they are spotty and light, today is not a big deal as far as
precipitation, you look at future tracker, you can see them around 2:00. you can see the showers ending around the evening rush. 9:00 a.m., 55. noon, 62. by 3:00 p.m., 59 degrees and by 6:00 p.m. 52 coming down from your mild high of 62. so feeling good today. we'll talk about that seven-day forecast and big changes coming up in a little bit. >> did you have a nice holiday weekend, karen? >> reporter: yeah, i did. >> we're checkering the vine street expressway things are looking nice, headlights are coming toward the westbound side of the schuylkill expressway. all is good on i-95 and the vine as well as the schuylkill. we have a fire on deerborne between brown and astin.
we had. if you're coming in on 422 no delays so far this morning. traffic is moving well. there was an overnight crash that closed things down in white marsh along ridge pike. germantown pike which was the alternate is cleared, the blue route and the pennsylvania turnpike look good with no overnight construction because of the holiday weekend. we're watching the fire location in germantown along colter street by germantown friends school and lena street. use church lane to get around that on this monday morning. >> investigators believe the house matt just mentioned was firebombed overnight. katherine scott is along the scene at east colter street. >> reporter: good morning, matt, i spoke to a man who lives inside the home. he said this is the second time that something like that has
happened. firefighters have taped off the scene in germantown the unit block of east colter street as the investigation is underway. the fire marshal is on the scene. there were 8 family members inside the home including a 3-year-old and 1-year-old, everybody is okay and nobody was injured. everybody got out safely. the fire broke out at 3:45. the resident tells me he was asleep when he heard a boom and the fire alarm. he went to investigate he said there were two canisters burning on the front porch. >> i heard the fire alarm, i said everybody get out. the fire, opened the front door there was two containers with fire coming out, we tried to put water on them, it wouldn't go out, we had to come out the back door and go over the gate and we put it out with the fire extinguisher when we got out of here. he said the fire spread to the basement. he said the last time this
happened, they try to to set the back door on fire, they weren't successful. they say they don't know why someone is doing this to them. the fire marshal is on scene, this remains under investigation this morning. we're live in germantown, katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> thanks for those moo details. >> we have developing story here, police are looking for the person who may have been trying to shoot at a police officer in delaware county. the gunfire broke out along a foot bridge along west nate ellis drive. philadelphia's tactical air helicopter units has joined the search. police have not found the person who fired the shots, there are no reports of injuries. >> pennsylvania state police were called out to the schuylkill expressway, they got a call about a group of juveniles riding their bikes. they were riding east in the
westbound lane. police don't know who the young people are or where they want. >> the fbi has joined the search for an missing area college student last seen leaving a bar in manayunk early thanksgiving morning four days ago, police scoured the waters of the nearby manayunk canal for clues yesterday. shane montgomery was escorted out of a main street bar yesterday morning. the west chester senior has not been seen since. happening today, a jury selection in a philadelphia cop killing trial. raphael jones was accused of killing moses walker very. who was off duty and going home from his shift. another defendant in the case has already pleaded guilty and expected to testify against jones. police believe jones pulled the trigger. if convicted he could get the death penalty. >> time to take a look at accuweather it's going to feel
great for december. >> reporter: high of 62 degrees for anybody who wants to put out holiday decorations. maybe not a bad idea. let's look at storm tracker 6 live double scan around the region. we're dry, let's go outside and show you when it looks like, starting our day off looking in atlantic city, looking good out there right now. we can see some clouds up above. 49 degrees the current temperature. the dewpoint, 42. the winds are out of the west west/southwest. bringing in our always on day planner to give you a look at the day ahead. satellite and radar showing a good amount of cloud cover and we can see the showers that are breaking apart. they are very light. just some spotty showers associated with a cold front that's pulling through. the best chance of this is later on this afternoon. as far as the temperatures, though, that's the nice part of the story today. 9:00 a.m., 54, noon, 62. that's the high today. temperatures well above the
average high of 50. 3:00 p.m., 59 and 6:00 p.m. coming down from a high of 52 degrees, as we look at future tracker 6 we can advance this to later on this afternoon, look at 1:30 in the afternoon, just some light spotty showers popping through, it will not cause you too much trouble today, but during your evening drive time showers may be staged in one or two spots, something to watch for as you're traveling home this evening. watch for spotty showers, it's out of here at the nighttime. 62 degrees, temperatures are a good 12 degrees above average so we'll take it. we're watching another change tomorrow morning, we're advancing future tracker 6 we can see light showers come in, we see a sleet pelt or two, trying to mix in at times. we're going to have to watch for that tomorrow morning. we'll advance this to later in the morning hours, temperatures
